Rhyme N Chatt’s 2022 Year in Review

“Changing Lives One Rhyme At A Time”

Recorded May 2022 as part of the Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas: Juneteenth Celebration

Thank You for Honoring Us!

Rhyme N Chatt was honored at the inaugural RBG Ball and Awards Ceremony for excellent achievement in literary arts. Thanks to the Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas for the honor. RNC members (pictured below left to right) Jada Mills, Tinita Coulter, Marsha Mills and Jacquelyn Atkerson were in attendance at the award ceremony.

Rhyme N Chatt Interactive Poetry Organization (RNC) is a historic institution in Chattanooga, TN. First organized in 1999, it was created to “provide a safe place where poetry is shared and discussed and people are valued.”

RNC encourages creativity without judgement and PG-13 rated poetry that challenges poets to express themselves without offensive language. It doesn’t discriminate based on color, race, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

RNC prides itself on being “the first place” that many have ever shared their poetry aloud, because we provide such a safe atmosphere.

Check the links above for upcoming events, including open mic sessions.

A Safe Place

“The first time I shared a poem that I wrote was at a Rhyme N Chatt open mic session held at Glenwood Recreational Center. It was the first time that I felt safe and unjudged and it was the first time that I truly felt listened to.”

– Marsha Mills, member since 1999

Life Long Connections

“Simply good clean fun! It’s like a reunion with old friends, supporting one another’s creativity.”

– Cheryl Kyles, attendee

What others say

“RNC typifies the heart and soul of Chattanooga.”

― Mark Anderson, Chattanooga Writers Guild

I really love the energy and the vibe of it all and just hanging with good people.

― Latrecia Montgomery, attendee

“Rhyme n Chatt is one of the coolest organizations I have ever been blessed to be a part of. There is nothing like it, and we have so much fun when we get together for an event! My favorite thing about it is the community spirit and how everyone is just constantly rooting for you no matter what! It’s my first year but I have a feeling I will definitely be a member for life!”

― Kelly Hanwright, member

“I love and support RNC because it provided me a safe space to express myself, free from judgement, as well as a family atmosphere, at a pivotal time in my life.”

― Pamela Shropshire, member/attendee

“I have attended several events for this group. They always have a great showing. I love introducing new people to the arts. I am so looking forward to the next event.”

― 2022 Love Groove attendee
